My story starts when I got pregnant in 2012. I not only put on 4 stones in weight, in addition in the 19th week of my pregnancy I developed very high blood pressure and remained on blood pressure medication until December 2016.
I tried various diets and exercises, however nothing worked. I would manage to shed a few pounds and then they would come back. I was running sporadically but was too unfit. I even ended up fainting a few times and developed anxiety associated with running.
At the end of December 2016, I decided that enough is enough, and that, ‘I cannot be unfit, unhealthy and overweight anymore’.
I started a low-carb/healthy-fat diet involving eating 5 meals per day at regular intervals and I set up myself a challenge to run every day through January even if it was only 1 mile a day. I not only started seeing results as the weight started to drop and I got fitter, but I have truly fallen in love with running.
I have joined local running club and now run regularly at least 3 times a week. Between January 2017 and March 2017, I dropped 2 stones in weight. I still have a bit of weight to lose and would like to tone up, but I am very proud of what I have achieved and the changes that I made to my lifestyle.
